Hot flashes - are the most common and most stressful symptom of menopause. They arise due to changes in the sensitivity of thermoregulatory mechanisms in the brain, due to falling level of estrogen. Hot flashes are observed in more than 80% of women, begin long before menses cease, and may continue for several years after completion. The hot flashes are the strongest usually for 1-2 years before monthlies cease.
