For thousands of years, archery was a time honored skill that was taken up and practiced by many for survival. Prior to the age of guns and gun powder came along, most towns, cities and villages were protected by extremely trained archers who wielded them as fierce weapons in campaigns of war. Most of these people began coaching to shoot a bow at a tender age. As soon as they gained the fundamental abilities, they had been then prepared to handle the much more advanced weapon of the crossbow.
