Why do dogs sniff?

Are you aware that the nose is the greatest asset of your dog? Smell is the most efficient and sensitive sense of a dog. The ultra sensitive senses make the dog an excellent hunter.

Some breeds are purposely developed to be hunting dogs because of their excellent scenting abilities. Hounds for instance can track and find a wounded animals even if the track has gone cold.
