Not everyone has the capabilities to successfully lead a group of people. Managers should have the ability to get a group of people with their own thoughts and opinions to think in a certain way, with the goal of accomplishing something. People try to strongly hold on to their opinions and to get them to achieve a goal with minimum resistance requires a level of skill and finesse.
A good manager can present a specific idea or goal and have the group welcome the idea or work towards a goal.
