Most people today realize that it is a good idea that the US has food assistance available to help people now because a lot of us are currently living in poverty. While the USDA food stamp program itself is actually run by the federal government, each state's government determines how the program runs in their state so that they can make sure all of their residents are well served if they are needy.
This program is also called SNAP which is an acronym that stands for Supplemental Nutrition
